Today at a birthday celebration at lunch a co-worker and I had a brief discussion about 'The Da-Vinci Code' and how he wouldn't want to take his Sunday school kids to see it because they aren't "well enough informed" about the Bible. I couldn't understand this at all. When did people start thinking movies were real? I mean, are there a lot of people out there that think Rocky Balboa was a real boxer?
If people are smart enough to understand that Rocky is fictional, why is it, when you make something up about Jesus, everyone suddenly drops 30 IQ points and thinks "It's about religion it must be true!" Are people tuning into South Park every week hoping Jesus will show up and tell them how to live along with some lotto numbers? When did people become incapable of understanding the meaning of the word 'fiction'?
